HFZ Solutions is an independent research and engineering initiative dedicated to exploring innovative approaches to arithmetic. Our current work focuses on a novel family of arithmetic units called Cold Computing.
The name reflects the fact that these systems do not require active cooling. In addition to their low power consumption and minimal heat dissipation, Cold Computing units feature several distinctive properties:
These unconventional arithmetic units are modeled and simulated in LTspice (LEVEL=8) with 16 nm transistors, using the following models:
.model nmosCC noms (LEVEL=8 VTH0=0.65 U0=1500 TOX=1.2n RDSW=100 ETA0=0.05 PCML=1 CAPMOD=2 TNOM=27 KT1=-0.001 UTE=-1.5) .model nmosCC noms (LEVEL=8 VTH0=-0.65 U0=400 TOX=1.2n RDSW=100 ETA0=0.05 PCML=1 CAPMOD=2 TNOM=27 KT1=-0.001 UTE=-1.5)
The performance of these arithmetic units will be published here soon, along with detailed experimental results and technical notes. Cold Computing explores unconventional arithmetic architectures capable of performing operations efficiently and directly, offering unique potential for simpler, high-performance systems.
This website currently serves as a temporary placeholder for our research. It will gradually become the main platform for sharing our publications and technical insights.
